2017 Open Studios of the Scenic Rim:
The 2017 line-up on Tamborine Mountain included many of the Mountain’s outstanding artists and artisans some of whom are in their own studios. Council provided an excellent map for you to find your way around – and it’s was easier for locals than visitors!
Participating members of the TM Arts Collective appeared at the Showground courtesy of the Show Society. However TMAC member Margaret Goldsmith, had her studio open in Bateke Road – a visit was worthwhile for all those interested in her unique style of painting and Neil and Margaret’s glasswear. On the way to the Showground visitors popped in to see another member Ron Bryant and team at Wisteria Cottage.
At the Showgound TM Arts Collective artists included Leeton Lee, Sharon MacLeod, Margaret Smit, Michael Jones, Anna Beveridge, Cindy Wood, Julie Martyn, Marianne Halpin, Betty Bull, five of the fabulous Wearable Arts Girls and relatively new member Fleur Chandler with her exciting jewellery.
Meanwhile over in Brisbane on this same weekend some of our members were at at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens at Mt Coot-tha for a Brisbane Visual Arts Community event. This as usual was a great gathering of many groups and collectives from the Brisbane area.
May was certainly a busy month because on the following weekend and the same Sunday The Show Society conducted its grand Mothers Day market, some TM Arts Collective members also showed their work at at Warendo Olive Grove in the Lost World Valley for the annual Arts in the Olives.
